It’s Time To Live At The Edge Of Life.

Recently, I was compelled – in a pleasant and positive way – to prepare for three talks.

I have to also participate in a question and answer session after every talk.

These talks were way beyond my depth of knowledge.

To make it worst, they were not even subjects that I was completely passionate about.

And they might not even make any direct impact on my business and my life in the near future.

Once I embarked on the preparation, I made myself passionate about these subjects and at the end of the day, they did make a huge difference to my business and life.

The titles of the talks were as follows:

– Harnessing disruptions to improve our future world;

– The impact of Trumponomics (or Trumpoline Economics) on the economy and investment market; and

– Singapore’s Smart Nation Model: A platform for optimising use of space to capitalise on the new economy.

I’ll not bore you with three long stories of how I ended up having to speak on three widely different topics.

Suffice to say, I feel humbled to share my research and conclusions.

I’m indeed honored to start a conversation with three different groups of people – even though the honor was kind of forced upon me.

Looking back, I’m thankful to be put literally at the edge of life.

The embarrassment of failing in front of any of these groups of people would have haunted me.

It would have put a bad mark on whatever image and standing I have in my community and society.

I believe I have become wiser for the challenging experience.

The knowledge gained would prepare me to face a fast-changing, challenging and complex new world.

It reinforced within me the value of being intellectually curious and the value of lifelong learning.

More importantly, the takeaway from this experience is that we need to challenge ourselves to get out of our comfort zones and move to the edge of life.

Think about it.

You’ll never know how great you can be until being great is the only road left ahead of you.

You’ll never know until you push yourself forward from the edge of your self-imposed limitation.

It’s at the edge, that you can see the vast expanse of dreams and possibilities.

It’s at the edge that you can start to experience potential miracles.

It’s at the edge that you’ll develop a healthy discontent with status quo.

It’s at the edge that you can take the next step to soar to a higher plane in life.

It’s at edge that you can let go and let God take you on a flight of abundance and achievement.

Beware: If you’re not living at the edge, you may just be occupying space.

When you look back at your life, you may not regret taking the journey that you have travelled.

More likely than not, you’ll regret that you have not gone beyond the edge and taken a different journey to optimise your potential and live a better life.

The worst crisis may not be a natural crisis but a man-made crisis of fear, ignorance and apathy.

Are you ready to join those who have crossed the edge and returned as heroes to inspire the world with their stories?

Are you ready to live at the edge of life?

Go4It!

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.

They are also meant to motivate those who are struggling in life and help them find handlers to overcome their conflicts and challenges. It is my ardent hope that we will form networks and alliances of like-minded people who will put to right many of the wrongs in our midst. Together, we will leverage on each other's resources and create a synergistic impact in making our world a better home. These articles are written as part of regular reflection about the vicissitudes of life. They are at best work in progress and at worst, grumblings, grouses, and gripings of a finite old man. I have deliberately decided NOT to delete many of the articles and pointers that I may not agree with or are outrightly wrong. This is to keep a record of how my personal ideas, beliefs, and values have evolved over time. In addition, I hope to encourage readers by letting them know that I also make mistakes and am struggling with many of the complexity and complication in life. As long as we hang on to hope and work on finding a solution, there will be light at the end of whatever tunnel we are in. I do not pretend to know everything or for that matter, anything of substance. In fact, the more I study, learn, and think about the vast wisdom and knowledge out there, the more I realised how little I know about life and the ways of life. Hence, I have always ended my article by asking readers to continue to teach me. For I, too, am a sojourner in the exploration of truth and the adventure of finding meaning, purpose, and significance for my existence. I am proud of and make no apology for being a Christian, albeit not the most exemplary one. I believe our Creator can lead and guide us to be the best that we can ever be. I bear full responsibility for the shortcoming and error in my life, including my words. The fault is entirely mine and not due to anyone else. Readers have and can exercise the power of choice. They can discard what will not work for them and adopt those that can propel them further and faster in the pursuit of better performance, outcomes, and fulfillment. If I have disappointed or hurt you in any way, form, or manner, I would like to apologise to you. Please do not hold them against me or whoever or whatever is related to me. There are much to pray about, learn, and do. And I'll work on them with a sense of urgency. I hold on to the belief that 'Anything worth doing is worth doing with passion and excellence'. I'll endeavour to live by it. Life is short. There's no dress rehearsal and neither can we turn back the clock to change the drama of life. Therefore, by the grace and power of our Creator, let's live a full life and live it to the fullest. May God bless you abundantly on the journey of life.
